  • No doubt you have seen, if not used, the new BC Spa Facial Defend and Restore Facial Cream.  The reviews that we have received so far from our Consultants and clients with Normal/Dry skin have been incredible! At BeautiControl, our product philosophy is, and has always been, to stay on top of trends and technologies and continue to look for new opportunities to meet and exceed the ever-changing demands of you and your clients.  Product enhancements come as the result of feedback from you and your clients, changing consumer trends and advancements in technology that allow us to create a product that will be more effective to deliver maximum results. After 2 years of successful sales and consumer feedback, there were a few potential enhancements that became apparent.  For those clients with drier skin conditions, we received requests to increase the long-term moisturization benefits.  For those with darker skin tones, we received requests to reduce the white film caused by the titanium dioxide, which provided SPF protection. The result...an incredible new formula that provides maximum short and long-term moisturization.  A non-whitening SPF blend that offers broad-spectrum (UVA and UVB) protection and an enhanced anti-aging and anti-oxidant complex to both repair damage and prevent from both UV and oxidative damage. The SPF ingredients used in this new formulation are different than those used in the previous formula and different than those used in either the BC Spa Facial Defend and Restore Moisture Lotion or the Cell Block C products.  During our formulation process, we learned that new FDA regulations were being put into place in January of this year regarding the testing and labeling of products containing an SPF.  While formulas previously on the market would be allowed a period of time to comply, all new formulations introduced to the market after January 2013 would require the necessary testing to measure and ensure the exact SPF value for both UVA and UVB rays.  In order to achieve our desired SPF value and to address the feedback that we had received, we formulated this product with Parsol 1789 (avobenzone), an effective and superior SPF UVA blocker, known to have a lower rate of irritation than other organic SPF ingredients.  While it is not likely that you will encounter someone who cannot use a product containing this ingredient, we still have the Cell Block C or the BC Spa Facial Defend and Restore Facial Lotion, either of which would be an effective alternative. Be sure to log onto BeautiNet> Business Tools> Forms on File and download the beautiful product profiles for this, and each of the BC Spa Facial products.  The Marketing Team is always introducing beautiful new tools, including Product Profiles, Ad Slicks, Regimen Forms and Spa Menus and many, many other tools to support your business.  New items are added every Tuesday, so be sure to check back frequently under the

  • In today’s competitive environment, every company has access to the same, or at least similar ingredients.  The key point of differentiation is the ability to get those ingredients into the skin.  The term that describes how the ingredients are delivered and absorbed into the skin is called a “delivery system”.  A delivery system is not only unique to each formula, but can also be unique to each ingredient in a formulation, creating a complex, multi-functional product that is often far more complex than meets the eye.  There are literally thousands of variables that can be manipulated to maximize the penetration of an ingredient including the pH of the formula, molecular size of the ingredient, ionic charge of the molecules, encapsulation, micro-sponges, filling spheres, just to name a few.   During my Trend and Technology presentation this week at Tupperware Brands Global Beauty Board, I had the opportunity to present a technology that we have been developing and perfecting over the past few years and have utilized in both the BC Spa Facial Defend and Restore Night Cream and the BC Spa Facial Restructuring Eye Cream, called “Multi-layer Lamellar Delivery”. First, let me describe the anatomy and function of the skin to help you understand the action of this delivery system:  The skin is comprised of 2 sections – the Dermis (the foundation of the skin, including blood supply, nerve endings, etc.) and the Epidermis (consisting of layers of skin cells held together by intercellular lipids that function to hold the skin cells together, maintain hydration and prevent the absorption of foreign substances.  The main function of the skin is to regulate moisture and hydration as well as to keep out foreign matter. Many topically applied products are formulated with a multitude of ingredients suspended in a base of water, oil, silicone, etc.  In order to get the ingredients into the skin, a high concentration of those ingredients must be included to ensure that the limited amount that make it through the intercellular lipid barrier is concentrated enough to be effective and reach the levels of the epidermis where it can be most effective.  While it is possible to use other delivery systems to get ingredients into the skin, it is difficult to combine multiple active ingredients in a formulation and ensure that each of them are delivered since each ingredient requires specialized delivery systems which are not compatible with other ingredients that may offer multiple benefits.  The result is not only limited absorption of the ingredients but also a higher incidence of topical irritation due to the highly concentrated ingredients that are applied to the skin to obtain an effective delivery.  Multi-layer lamellar delivery is a limited technology due to the difficulty in formulation; however, one of the technologies that give you a competitive advantage and a more effective product to offer your clients. To construct a lamellar formulation, first we decide upon the active ingredients that we want to use in the formulation and where we want them to be delivered into the skin.  We take the ingredient requiring the deepest delivery and use that as our base molecule.  Next, we encapsulate that ingredient inside of a lipid structure that mimics the skin’s natural intercellular lipid barrier.  We repeat this by encapsulating both the original active and lipid structure inside of another combined active ingredient and lipid structure.  We repeat this with another active ingredient…all of which are encapsulated into a lipid sphere (liposome).  To the naked eye, what you see may look like any other cream or lotion, but in reality it is anything but.  The emulsion that you see with the naked eye is actually millions of spheres, or liposomes, that are power packed, multi-layered active ingredients.  Upon application, these liposomes form a microcrystalline matrix on the skin’s surface.  Since the skin recognizes the skin-mimicking lipid outer-layer of the liposome, it absorbs the ingredient and begins to metabolize the lipid outer casing, releasing the first active ingredient below the skin’s surface.  As the ingredient continues to absorb, the 2 nd lipid ring is metabolized, and releases the second active ingredient deeper into the skin.  The process is repeated until the final active ingredient is absorbed and penetrated. The result is a deeper delivery of active compounds to the layers of the skin where they can be most effective.  In addition, because the ingredients are delivered IN the skin, rather than ON the skin, lower concentrations of actives are required, minimizing the potential for surface irritation.  Another key benefit is that because these ingredients do not form a surface barrier on the skin, they can delivery high concentrations of hydration without leaving a heavy surface film that can be perceived as greasy or heavy for those with normal or oily skin conditions. This is just one of the state-of-the-art delivery systems that we use at the BeautiControl Research Institute, but one that we will continue to pioneer.  There are limitless choices out there when it comes to skin care and treatment products.  Your clients can choose product that PROMISE results or products that DELIVER results.  At BeautiControl, we deliver results by delivering effective active ingredients into the skin unlike other products currently available. BeautiControl delivers!

Skin Deep Delivery Systems: Multi-Layer Lamellar Delivery

Client Appreciation – The Key To A Successful Business

It is a proven fact that there are 3 categories of products that consumers are loyal to: 1. Skin Care 2. Treatments that Deliver Results 3. Foundation and Mascara WE know that BeautiControl has the best products available, but there are many consumers who have no idea who we are. Notice that I didn't say, "what we sell" because what we sell is far less important than "who we are".  The fact is, as a BeautiControl Consultant you aren't selling a product...you are selling YOU.   YOU are the most important product that you can offer.  Service is something that you have 100% control over and is the thing that consumers today are starving for. To most effectively attract and retain customers, it is important to understand the differences in terminology in order to most effectively develop your sales strategies: Consumers:  A Consumer is anyone who buys personal care products.  These are the people who have either never heard of BeautiControl or are not currently using BeautiControl products. Customers:  A Customer is someone who has made a single or very sporadic purchase from you. Client:  A Client is someone who was introduced to you as a consumer, became a customer and has developed an on-going relationship as a client. As you develop your strategies, there are 3 key factors to introduce your business to consumers and develop them into clients: Contact Service Relationship It is highly unlikely that a complete stranger is going to knock on your door and as to buy a product.  Developing a contact strategy is crucial in order to build a client base.  The best way to find business is to let people know you are open for business.  Incenting your current clients and customers to help generate leads for you is one of the easiest way to build a business.  If you don't have an existing client base, the Spa is the most effective way to grow.  At the Spa, you are introduced to multiple people who can introduce you to their network of friends and family.  Facebook and other social media outlets re also a great avenue to showcase your business.   After you have introduced these consumers to your business through the Spa, it is time to turn up the volume on the service that you deliver.  Going the extra mile for your customer will help establish trust and put you on the path to transitioning them into a client.   Once your customer has made a repeat purchace from you, they have become a client...but the job is far from done - in fact, it is just the beginning.  The relationship that you have with your clients is something that needs to be continually rewarded and nurtured.  Let your clients know that they are appreciated and valued.  Random acts of kindness and gratitude will be rewarded with loyalty and retention.   April is Client Appreciation month and a time to recognize your clients and let them know how much you value them.  Client Appreciation, however, is not a once a year thing...it is an every day thing.  We often get busy and forget to show our gratitude for things that we may take for granted.  For some, this comes very naturally.  For others, it may be something that needs to be put on the calendar.  Either way, both you and your Clients will feel valued in the process. To help you spur some ideas and develop your relationship strategies, here are 12 ways to show your Clients how much you care about them: 1. Greeting Cards There are dozens of major and minor holidays throughout the year and each provides a great reason to send a card. 2. Personal Notes Thoughtful and unexpected thank you notes can be sent after client appointments, following a purchase or whenever a client has done anything deserving some appreciation. While sending an e-mail may be quick and easy, you will make a better impression by sending a note in the mail. 3. Invitations Though it is important to recognize all of your clients, it is just as important to pay extra attention to your top clients. Spending personal time together  gives you a chance to cultivate the relationship by getting to know each other better (in the sales world, this is called “face time”). Consider inviting your top contacts to lunch, dinner, sporting events, charity functions or other events where you can spend time together. 4. Small Gifts Flowers, books, a mug full of candy and other token items can make thoughtful gifts for clients. These can be sent on special occasions such as birthdays, holidays or anniversaries, or can be sent for no reason other than to show your gratitude. 5. Food Everyone loves food. Consider sending cupcakes from your local bakery, providing a catered lunch at your client’s office or dropping off a tray of cookies. 6. Gift Cards Sending a gift certificate for free products or gift cards for items or places your clients will enjoy can have an added benefit: they will think of you when it comes time to redeem the gift! Options include coffee shops, restaurants, movies, bookstores, office supplies or anything else your clients would appreciate. For even more mileage, consider partnering with another business and send each other’s gift cards. 7. Referral Rewards The highest compliment you can receive is a referral to your business. This gesture deserves recognition in the form of a thank you note, discount on services or small gift card. Always acknowledge when a customer sends business your way. 8. Reverse Referrals If your clients are business owners, look for ways to refer business to them. This is an unexpected gesture that is sure to set you apart. 9. Customer Appreciation Days Designate one or more days each year to celebrate your clients. You could offer a customer-only secret promotional sale, give away lunch if you have a physical location or provide a special bonus to those on your mailing list. 10. The Gift of Information Gary's Blog, BeautiCoach, BeautiBuzz...each of these are free resources for you to send to your clients. Research topics/trends and create your own client newsletter.  Your client will be more "in the know" and will remain with you longer.  11. Host Events Host a party or an open house at your office or a restaurant. If your clients are geographically dispersed, you can hold a virtual event by inviting them to participate in complimentary online seminars. 12. Life Events If you know that your client is getting married, having a baby, being promoted or enjoying another major life event, send an acknowledgement—even if it is a simple card. Your gesture will not be forgotten.  Take every opportunity to surprise and delight your clients.  Don't underestimate the power of words. While we all like to hear phrases like, "You've Won!" or "You Look Great", there are 3 phrases that touch me more deeply than anything else:  "Thank You", "I Care" and "I'm Sorry".  These simple words make me weak in the knees, and as simple and silly as it sounds, the words that will secure me as a Client for life.

  • Ok...before you go any further...THANK YOU for all your questions.  I had no idea I would get this many. Since I said I would answer all of them, and that is what you are expecting, I have to include them all here, making this a VERY long blog.  I apologize for that, but want to honor my comittment.  Next time I will know to limit the number and address over the period of a few weeks to keep the content manageable (for you and me, both...LOL).  There were a couple that I did not answer because they were very specific and I needed further information.  If I didn't answer your question, please email me directly and I will be happy to assist further.  Ok...here goes... Can you suggest anything for staph infection on the face besides Dr, shots, & antibiotics?
It is important to note that cosmetic product are not intended to be a substitute for medical intervention for conditions that require medication.  Any type of bacterial, fungal or viral skin condition should be treated by a physician rather than seeking non-medical alternatives which could aggravate the condition, causing it to spread or delay the healing process
Many of us use colors from more than one BC Color Eye Shadow Trio pallet when it comes to our glam makeovers, etc. We often run out of one or two of the colors in a pallet and then have to open another trio of that kind. Will we ever see our color pallets with replaceable colors...or is the current way here to stay to keep costs down and prices right for our clients? There are a few reasons that we don’t do re-fillable color cosmetic packaging.  First, since we are an inventory business model, we have to keep in mind that it would increase the complexity for our Consultant’s business to have to stock both full-size products and re-fills.  Another reason is to keep the finished cost manageable.  The third reason is because many clients are uncomfortable mixing and matching shades.  Each of our trios is segmented by warm/cool color season and coordinate together within their correct color families. Maybe not your area but maybe you can pass this along...could we have a search feature for Forms on File? More questions to come as I think of them : ) BTW...thanks for keeping me looking younger than my high school classmates!
There will be a “search function” on the entire BeautiNet website when it is re-designed in the coming months.  In the meantime, If you have the “Forms on File” opened and are in the correct category tab, you can click “Cntrl F” on your keyboard and it will pull up a “search” function allowing you to search for a keyword on the page.  These instructions are at the top of the page in the “Forms on File” page and will help to quickly find sort and highlight the titles of the relevant forms. What can we do to help people that have little red lines (broken capillaries, I think) on their face?
Broken capillaries on the face are common as we age but can also be a signal that your products are more aggressive than your skin can tolerate, that you have sensitive skin or have sensitive skin disorders such as Rosacea.   The first step is to identify the products that may be contributing to the irritation.  These are often chemical and/or physical exfoliants, retinol, anything containing denatured alcohol or, for some, chemical sunscreens or surfactants.  The BC Spa Solutions Scar/Stretchmark/Spider vein Solution was developed to help treat this condition and will help to repair the problem and minimize the appearance with continued use.  If any of your clients feel that they have sensitive skin conditions or even conditions such as rosacea, I would recommend that you refer to my blog titled, “Dealing With Rosacea” which details a recommended regimen as well as products to avoid.  I would love to see an explanation that I could show to my clients who say Order Online and type “copper” into the ingredient search function, it will retrieve a list of all products containing copper. I have a client who is on all the skincare products. She has an age spot on the left side of her face that she is deseperately trying to get rid of. She using microderm, peel, illuminating serum and oxygen mask. It is not fading any suggestions. She is using the most effective products in the line to address this concern.  Be sure she is using twice daily and that she has given It at least 6 to 8 weeks of continued use. What products would be good for my niece, she fractured her spine L1 in Mva yesterday . She is unable to do anything for one week, until she sees dr for f/u.
Neck wrap, eye pads, Luxuries of the Sea Instant Comfort Gel and a heating pad…and someone to rub her feet.  I hope she feels better quickly. There is always one person who would compare BC to Mary Kay or Arbonne...I hate it because BC is so much better but I don't want to trash the competition. Is there any clever way to answer the question "How is BC compared to MK?"
There no need to trash the competition…every brand has a following that love their products for a variety of reasons.  BC is a very advanced line of skin care products that deliver anti-aging solutions.  Our competition would be highly concentrated retail and Spa brands that offer visible, physical results.  Brands that would better represent our competition would be brands such as Lancome, Murad, Kinerase, Peter Thomas Roth, Perricone MD, Dr. Brandt and others of this nature. Mary Kay is a brand that is slower to modify formulas and introduce niche specialty products into the assortment.  The do not frequently introduce new products, although they have a high quality line of products and a faithful brand following. Arbonne is a brand that targets a consumer who is looking for a more “natural” positioning; however, we also offer a comparable ingredient story even though our positioning is not “natural”.  BC combines the best of science and nature to attract a consumer that is looking for cosmeceutical strength ingredients that are both safe and effective.   You can find more details on this topic in my blog titled, “BC vs the Competition”. It would be great if the cleansing lotion/gel could be combined with exfoliation products. Clients are asking for fewer containers and packaging. While convenience is good, efficacy is better.  Combining products can often dilute the efficacy, offering diminished results.  Exfoliation is the key step in anti-aging, and the best way to use a scrub is to use it undiluted to maximize the exfoliation benefits.  Also, scrubbing every time you cleanse your skin is not recommended.  The frequency of use will vary from client to client based on their level of dryness and sensitivity.  I would like to see a face wipe/makeup remover similar to “Aveeno ultra-calming makeup removing wipes” added to our product line. It’s quick, convenient and healthy for your skin and some of my clients are using them after workouts, running and and a few that are avid gardeners. There are several reasons that we don’t have wipes in the line, although we are continuing to search for ones that would be a good fit for our line.  Rinsing the skin after cleansing is important, and often, when people use wipes as their cleanser/makeup remover, they do not effectively rinse, leaving product on the skin.  In addition, the preservative system required for wipes is much higher than that used in regular products which can also be irritating to some.  Finally, the wipes that are on the market today are very inexpensive and their retail price is based on the volume that they purchase.  As a mass brand, they will be able to offer these products at a very low retail price, making them more of a commodity item and difficult for us to compete with. How do we demonstrate the roll on products without cross-contaminating the product?
For the TFF Extreme Eye and the BC Spa Solutions Sculpt and Firm Moisturizer, it is recommended to squeeze the tube to push the product past the roller balls onto a spatula.  For the BC Spa Solutions Under-eye Dark Circle and Puffiness Solution, you can use an alcohol wipe between applications. How do our color cosmetics compare with ‘professional’ brand segments like MAC’s Pro Series?
The two main differences between the color cosmetics that we offer, compared to that of “professional” brands, specifically shadows, blush and pencils is name on the package and the Marketing of the product.  There are a few very well known powder and pencil manufacturers in the world that supply products to the cosmetic industry.  They have a variety of formulas that range in price and quality.  The price of the product is based directly on the quality of the ingredients, the milling of the powders, the percentage of pearls and the pigment load.  Our standard is to use the highest quality powder and pearls available to offer a formula that is silky, soft and blends easily, yet offers a heavy pigment load to lay down true color that lasts for an extended time.  What you may not realize is that we use many different formulas, often even in one shadow trio…for instance, a demi-matte powder will be a different formula than a formula that has more shimmer.  A shade that has a very heavy pigment load is a different formula than the ones that have a more natural finish.  So, in terms of quality, our formulas are identical to the higher end brands and those that are marketed as “professional” brands, because we use the highest quality formulas available. Will you educate consultants on when/when not to switch clients from BC Spa Facial tonics to Sensitive tonic...and when just backing off the frequency of use is best?
This is not an easy question to answer.  The BC Spa Tonics contain either AHAs or PHAs which are intended to chemically exfoliate the skin.  Yes, they have a tendency to make the skin a little red after application.  Yes, there may be some peeling when a person starts to use them.  Yes, they will tingle when applied (although the skin will adjust with continued use)…that is what they are supposed to do.  The Skin S.P.A. will typically help to recommend the best choice based on the way that the client answered the questions and the outcome of the sensors, offering the more gentle PHA tonic for those who are more dry and/or more sensitive.  I always advise a client what to expect when they begin using the products and have them use once daily for the first few days to determine the frequency of use.  Some can begin using twice daily with no problem and some may find it best to use every other day, increasing with continued use.  For those who have tried the PHA and still have a problem with sensitivity, you can offer an alternative tonic such as the Skinlogics Sensitive Tonic or either of the Skinlogics Essentials Tonics.  You will, from time to time, encounter a client who says they are sensitive to “EVERYTHING”.  Many times, their assumed sensitivity is greater than their actual sensitivity; however, I just start them on the Skinlogics Sensitive and attempt to move them to the PHA tonic as they become more comfortable with the products.  It is important to tell clients what to expect when they use the BC Spa Facial Tonics and not confuse the activity of the formula with a sensitivity response.  Hey Gary! A make up artist asked me what percent of pigment is in the secret agent foundation? Thx!!
I wish there was an easy answer for this.  The pigment load will vary from shade to shade.  Light shades will have more titanium dioxide (which is used for coverage and could be considered a pigment by some because it is the “white” in the formula) and less of the pigments.  Darker shades will use more pigments (which are minerals, by the way) and less of the titanium dioxide.   WHEW...that's it.  Be sure to check in on Monday to view my BeautiCoach video where I will outline our "Problem/Solution" products.  Your clients will love it.  Ciao.   " title="Your Questions Answered" />

I would love to see an explanation that I could show to my clients who say "I have sensitive skin" I can only use ...... (drugstore product)
I would be interested to understand what is meant by “drugstore product”.  My interpretation of that would be those mass-market brands that are sold through drugstores or other mass channels.  Typically, when a person has sensitive skin, they need to avoid products that contain lower grades of surfactants (foaming agents), which can cause dryness and irritation, parabens and other preservative ingredients, etc.  A product with all of these characteristics is difficult to find.  I often speak to people who say that they can only use Ivory soap (which is unusual, because that is one of the most drying products a person can use).  When a person has truly sensitive skin, they should look for products that are free of parabens, sulfates and other ingredients that can cause irritation as well as ingredients that provide anti-irritant ingredients to the skin.   It is also important to note that there is not one single product that 100% of people will be able to use.  You will run into people who will not be able to use our products, which has nothing to do with the product, but their individual chemistry or allergic triggers. Will BC be bringing their sunscreen back (by popular demand)?
If there were popular demand, we probably would consider it; however, we have made many attempts to carry sunscreen products and the sales did not warrant keeping them in the line.  Low sales volumes = higher prices.  When a person can get what they believe to be an adequate sunscreen at the Drugstore, it is hard to convince them why they would need to pay more, since it is really considered more of a commodity product.  Help with Acute acne! And acne scars please
I have written a very extensive blog on “Dealing with Problematic Cystic and Hormonal Acne”.  This will give a very concise regimen of products that should be used. To deal with acne scarring, the use of both chemical and physical exfoliation is crucial to help rebuild damaged surface skin and improve the skin’s texture.  Because these types of ingredients are not recommended when a person has active acne breakouts, it is not easy to treat both of these issues at the same time.  The Regeneration Overnight will be helpful for repairing the skin’s surface texture until the acne issue is resolved and physical exfoliants can be incorporated into their regimen without causing additional breakouts. Can those who use Retin A introduce our Resurface products into their regimen   safely?
Retin-A and Renova are both prescription strength retinol products.  They were initially designed to be used as an acne treatment, but since the action of the ingredient results very rapid exfoliation and peeling, and was quickly adopted as a very effective anti-aging ingredient for those who were looking for dramatic skin renewal and very effective skin repair.  This peeling can cause some redness and irritation in the early stages of use, and I would not recommend any other aggressive products such as our Resurfacing Peel, Regeneration Overnight and Microdermabrasion.  After the client’s skin has become accustomed to the treatment and the skin is no longer irritated and red, it would not be unreasonable to think that they could add the Resurfacing Products into their regimen without causing irritation. I can say, this is the PERFECT kind of client to find.  They are used to using very effective products to help reverse the symptoms of aging and repair skin damage.  They will LOVE the benefits that they see with our products and be faithful, long-term clients for you.  I have seen many, many clients find our Regeneration Overnight to be a wonderful alternative to prescription strength retinol. I noticed that the BC Spa Facial Moisturizer said "while supplies last" when I placed my order the other day. Maybe I missed news. Can you tell us what the plans are for this moisturizer - or direct me to the news? Thanks.
There have been recent regulatory modifications as it relates to any product containing an SPF, requiring labeling changes and/or reformulation. We have had a planned reformulation of these moisturizers and they will be launched in May as a replacement for our current BC Spa Facial Defend and Restore Moisture Lotion and Moisture Crème.  We have enhanced the formulas to meet the suggestions of our Consultants.  The Moisture Lotion will also contain oil absorbers to help control oil breakthrough more effectively and the Moisture Crème will have enhanced moisturizers to more effectively address dry skin concerns  What product can be used for dark spots on the arms, back, thighs etc... The BC bright and brightening elixir seems to be exclusively for the face. Thanks
The best product for skin discoloration anywhere on the face or body is the BC Bright Illuminating Serum.  It is important to note that while results can be seen in as little as a few weeks, it typically takes 6 to 8 weeks of regular, consistent use to help minimize the discoloration significantly, depending on the depth of the pigmentation in the skin’s surface. What are we doing with mineral powders? Replacing?
We will not be replacing the Mineral Foundations.  The sales volume on these were very low and we were no longer to manufacture them at a price that was competitive. I have several older clients that would love to see something specific for use on hands. The loose skin on top is difficult to address. We've tried night cream, eye cream, hand cream, exfoliating and the neck serum. Nothing works. As we age, the skin on parts of our body becomes more thin and fragile.  In addition, the fatty layers on parts of our body become more thin and we lose the “cushion” that we had when we were younger.  While anti-aging products containing peptides be helpful for helping create the environment for collagen and elastin production, the best anti-aging product would be, in my opinion, retinol as it helps the development of new skin from a lower layer of the epidermis.  In addition, I would recommend the use of products that are intended to help enhance the “cushion” of the skin.  The BC Spa Solutions Scar/Stretchmark/Spider vein Solution will be very effective to help with this. Some of us want to know when we could expect shampoo and conditioner products in sugar, brown sugar, sugar squeeze, etc so we have all the same scent for full bathing.
We have introduced hair care into the line several times in the past with poor results.  I am never one to say “never”, but it will have to be a unique, novel concept to be able to compete with more commodity hair care lines. Have a client asking what special benefits are had with Mineral EyeShadow. She is hearing how much better mineral eyeshadow is over regular on infomercials.
In reality, all powder cosmetics are “mineral powders”.  Pigments, pearls and the powder base consists of powdered minerals.  The term “mineral powder” is really more of a marketing term and has been associated with higher quality formulas.  We market our shadows and blush formulas as Mineral Color.  The real test of a high quality powder has little to do with whether or not it is marketed as “mineral” as it does with how the minerals are milled.  All of our powders are triple jet-milled to create a smooth, luxurious formula that blends easily and has extended wear.  This is the process used by the finest cosmetic brands to achieve a silky formula that delivers a smooth finish. If you were to recommend your top 3 treatments that would help us gain customers who would love the results and be clients for life, what would be your top 3?
Oh, I hate this question.  It is so hard for me to narrow it down to 3.  If I only get 3 they would be: TFF Extreme Tri-Peptide Complex Regeneration Overnight Microdermabrasion If I could make it my top 5, and could add 2 more, it would be: BC Spa Facial Regenerating Tonic with AHAs TFF Extreme Eye Complex Why?  Well, the key to skin repair and anti-aging is both chemical and physical exfoliation.  So I would make sure that no matter what, I had those in my basic regimen.  The Alpha Hydroxy Acids and retinol will offer chemical exfoliation and help speed the rate of cell renewal.  The Microdermabrasion will exfoliate and “shave” the surface cells, stimulating the skin and helping restore youthful skin activity.  Hyaluronic Acid, Peptides and Retinol are MUST HAVE anti-aging ingredients to help supplement the skin and give it the keys to restoring youthful acting skin.  We have the highest concentration of these key ingredients, so regardless of how tired I am, how lazy I am, etc…I will ALWAYS make time to use these products every day and night.  I have a customer that would like the "under-eye dark circle corrector" in our eye cream that she uses every morning and every night instead of just in the BC Solutions pen......told her I would ask our product guru!!!! Thanks!
Actually, these ingredients are in our eye cream, but not at the level that they are in the BC Spa Solutions Under-eye Dark Circle and Puffiness Solution.  When you use the levels of effective ingredients that we use in our formulas, there are limits to how it can be used.  An eye cream needs to first moisturizer, provide anti-oxidant protection, help diminish lines and wrinkles, help with dark circles and puffiness, etc.  When you have a product that addresses so many needs, you use less of everything.  When you formulate a product to address a single or dual need, you can dramatically increase the concentrations, making it most effective. Will we be bringing back the eyelash curler? My clients LOVED it!! It really was better than any I've ever used!!!
There are currently no plans to bring back the lash curler, but I will certainly pass that along to our Marketing team for future consideration. How to market to men! It is the biggest growing area for skincare. How to do a spa for men? Is there a difference between how men’s skin acts vs. women’s? When should we put men on the BC Spa vs. the men’s products.
I have written a detailed blog on this topic called “Understanding the Male Mindset”.  It details what kind of man is interested in a more general skin care regimen (BC Spa Man) and one that is interested in true skin repair/anti-aging (BC Spa Facial). Everyone wants stain lipsticks... Any talks on making those...? I know they're drying... There are some from another company starting with "R" that people always mention to me that have a lip stain on one side and clear gloss on the other side that people really seem to like...
We are looking into this for future introduction.  There is a simple rule of thumb when it comes to lip color formulation:  Long lasting lip colors will dry out the lips and moisturizing lip colors will not be long lasting.  If we were retail, we could have many different formulas to choose from for every particular client need.  This hasn’t been our strategy in the past due to our business model, but something we are exploring to increase in the future to offer more options.  Is our mascara and eye makeup remover oil free and safe for lash extension clients?
The new mascara is not oil-free, but the eye makeup remover is oil free.  For future reference, the ingredients of all of our products are available (and searchable) on BeautiControl.com or the Order Online screens on BeautiNet, along with the product profiles that outline the basic product claims. I would recommend that you advise any client who is applying any mascara over lash extensions that it is not recommended for daily wear, if at all.  While it is acceptable to apply a small amount of mascara over extensions on occasion (avoiding the base of the lashes where the extension are adhered), daily use is not recommended. Do you think we can have boxes available for purchase that would fit the BC Spa for Baby and it's mini set and also match the line colors/design? Also...will we see any products added to this set in the future? This line is great for babies and the elderly. Can't wait for the opportunity to get the travel size sets. I plan to offer those as a gift with a purchase of the full size set. They would make great items for diaper bags..
While we may have generic bags and promotional items from time to time, we will most likely not ever be able to offer set-specific packaging options at a price that is competitive with what you can find through various companies who specialize in this area.  You can easily find suppliers who have a huge variety of color options, sizes and selections to fit just about any need, at a cost that will be much better because of their enormous volumes.  Minimum order quantities are generally low if it is a stock item, but I might suggest teaming up with an area Consultant to build your order size to get the best price. We have plans to extend the BC Spa For Baby line in the future to include new products, minis and other support/promotional items. Please talk about Marketing to today's men. Also...with Eye Treatments...what to recommend to who (ages) & how many for 1 person to use at 1 time daily including regimen. TFF Eye Serum - TFF Extreme Eye Complex - Dark Circle Eye Puffiness Solution - Eye Creme - Retinol Overnight Capsules. An easy way to answer them without thinking they need 3 eye products to start with...but also educate me what to add in a few weeks for greatest results. Thanks Please refer to the question above as it relate to marketing/selling to men.  Regarding eye treatments, it is really pretty simple…Everyone needs an eye cream.  BC Spa Facial Eye Crème is a staple for every client.  Next…identify the areas of concern: Dark Circles and Puffiness:  BC Spa Solutions Under-eye Dark Circle/Puffiness Solution Deep lines and wrinkles (crow’s feet):  Regeneration Overnight Retinol Eye Capsules Loss of Firmness under eyes and on lids:  Regeneration TFF Eye Serum, or for maximum results, TFF Extreme Eye Complex. Choose the treatment product that best addresses the client’s concern and apply to clean skin.  Follow with Eye Crème.  Use twice daily for best results. (I find it effective to use the TFF Extreme Eye Complex in the day and Regeneration Overnight Eye Capsules at night, followed by Eye Crème) I see a lot of posts from consultants who really want to help clients treat symptoms of different disorders...like Rosacea, Psoriasis, Fibromyalgia, Lupus, and now Multiple Sclerosis. Your blog can be searched for Rosacea and Psoriasis symptom help, I know. Can you suggest things that might help clients who deal with the other things or maybe have a form put in Forms on File (with a disclaimer of course) about products that can help these things? Also...is it true that it's been discovered that Rosacea is linked to the feces (bacteria) of a mite we cannot see? It would explain why our BC Spa Bright helps then, wouldn't it?
First, I have to say that I am limited as to how much I can say about this since much of this would insinuate a medical claim, which we do not claim as a cosmetic.  We do not treat illness or skin disorders, we can only offer relief from the associated symptoms.  Here is a general guideline to help identify the best solutions: Rosacea is linked to bacteria and results in irritated skin and an acne-like rash.  BC Spa Bright Oxygen Infusion Facial and Protective Services are great to both provide oxygen to the skin’s surface and offer anti-irritant ingredients to help calm irritation and redness and encourage the skin to heal more effectively. Fibromyalgia and Multiple Sclerosis are disorders that may result in muscle soreness, fatigue, etc.  The BC Spa Bath Minerals and Detox Bath Soak may offer relief from these symptoms, along with the Luxuries of the Sea Instant Comfort Gel, which is formulated as a topical solution for muscle soreness, aches and discomfort. Lupus is a condition that can result in a variety of skin related symptoms from dryness to skin irritation, as well as internal complications that are unrelated to the skin.  The best recommendation is to treat the symptoms based on the features/benefits of our products, realizing that they are in no way a substitute for medical intervention. Okay, I know you said 'question' but every morning when I put on my Shadow Control Creme I WISH it had TFF right in it like my concealer does. THAT would be awesome!
That would be awesome…and a great suggestion for future development.  Thank you for the great idea. What products are not recommended for pregnant women? I loved the sample size products we had with the previous line (20s, 30s etc) any plans to our new skin care line in travel size or bigger sample size? I really find the foil packaging hard to travel with and felt the other packaging was more inviting to give to clients. Also, with the while supplies last with our SPF lotion and cream are they going away? Or just getting a packaging make over? One last one....white sugar body butter and white sugar scrub and plans to bring back?
I have written a very detailed blog on the topic of “Pregnancy and Product Use”.  It should address anything you need to know on this topic. Regarding samples I need to point out that these were designed for client sampling, rather than travel, it is understandable that you may not favor them for traveling (although that is all I travel with).  We will be introducing sample/travel size skin care in the near future. Please see the previous question regarding the status of the BC Spa Facial Moisturizers. There are no plans to bring back the Sugar Body Butter or Sugar Scrub, but I will certainly pass along your suggestion and request to our Marketing team for future consideration. How long should it take for the BC bright system to remove an age spot?
There is no exact answer to this.  It is important to note that age spots may be in development for years before we actually see them on the skin.  The time it takes to fade the discoloration is dependent on how long it has been in development.  It generally takes 6 to 8 weeks to see results from the BC Spa Bright Illuminating Serum…but remember, this product is not only fading the discoloration, but helping to correct the core of the problem to eliminate the discoloration, not just temporarily fade it. Also are we bringing back the secret agent oil free concealers I have loads if clients who loved them?
There are no plans to bring them back, but I will pass along to our Marketing group. Any chance we can get menswear cologne back??????  I am losing clients over this one. There are currently no plans to bring this fragrance back.  Fragrance trends change rapidly and sales fluctuate based on the current fragrance trends.  Menswear is a category of fragrance that is currently not as popular as it was when it was introduced.  While I don’t see that exact fragrance coming back, another fragrance in that same category would be considered if the trend swings back in that direction of fragrances. The previoys men’s warming shave was much better than the new one. The new one does not come off the blade easily according to my son who went online shopping for all the old ones he could get!
Men are loyal to their shave cream and change is not easy.  Men who have thick beards hated our old shave cream, but love the new one, while those who did not have thick beards liked the old one and are also responding well to the new one.  I can say that sales of the new one is far better than the previous formula and since it has been introduced, I am now 100% BeautiControl in my product usage.  For your son, I might recommend the Warming Trend Green Tea Mask.  The formulas are VERY similar. Also, have a lot of clients that the AHA tonic is too strong for them and they get red even though they sensored for it and thought they weren't sensitive...
Yes, that is not unusual.  AHAs are among the most effective skin repair ingredients available.  It is not uncommon to feel a tingling sensation when applying, which may result in some skin redness for a period of time.  This will decrease quickly with continued use as the skin becomes accustomed to the active ingredients and the skin repair benefits. Client using BCSPA for dry skin says it is too dry? Causing dry areas. What would you suggest for her? New night creme?
The first thing to determine is whether the products are not supplying enough moisture or she is experiencing surface dryness as a result of the PHA tonic creating the sensation of dry surface skin as part of the chemical exfoliation.  The first thing to do is confirm that she is exfoliating to remove the surface dry skin.  If that is the case, the Ultra Rich Night Crème will help add more moisture along with the new BC Spa Facial Defend and Restore Moisture Crème that will be introduced in May. Also I was informed to do a facial for clients in this order: Put in hand Cleansing Lotion, Polish, & Green Tea Masque then dampen face with either water or Hydrating Mist. Using all 3 together cleanse face followed by PHA Tonic and Moisture Creme. I did this at a Spa and lost a client and recruit due to it causing her face to become very dry to the extent she went and used some lotion she had in her bathroom. I did offer to come correct it but she hung up on me and refused to answer my texts except the next day to state it was still very dry. Do you know what happened?
We do not recommend the products to be used in that manner.  The BC Spa Facial products were not intended to be used in this manner or mixed with the Warming Trend Green Tea Mask.  In the future, I would recommend using the regimen in the recommended order to ensure that the products are working as they should. My mother who is 73 has dry skin and is using per her skin sensor the Cleansing lotion, PHA Tonic, Moisture Creme and she keeps telling me she has to keep using more of the Moisture Creme as the products are drying her skin. She has been using them since February.
Please see the recommendations above. Hi Gary! When's the new bronzer coming out? Clients & myself loved the Tuscan Sun loose mineral formula & color!! Is it possible to bring back the Secret Agent oil-free concealers? There will be a new bronzer introduced next year.  There are no plans to bring back the Secret Agent Concealers, but we do have new concealers planned for a future introduction. What products do we have to help arthritis in hands and such. Also is the gluten free products list up to date on forms on file? any copper in our products?
None of our products are formulated for arthritis relief, but many have found the Luxuries of the Sea Instant Comfort Gel effective for muscle/joint discomfort. Yes, the gluten list is up to date on Forms on File and managed as there are changes that need to be made. Yes, quite a few of our products contain copper.  If you log onto BeautiNet> Order Online and type “copper” into the ingredient search function, it will retrieve a list of all products containing copper.
Ciao.
